Day After Thanksgiving Wine Tasting Game (Recap)

Day After Thanksgiving Wine Tasting Game (Recap)

On the evening of Black Friday, Christina and I invited some friends over for a fun little wine tasting game. We thought it’d be nice to gather around Thanksgiving, but we didn’t want to do a potluck because (1) we were sure everyone would have multiple Thanksgiving / Friendsgiving events to go to, and (2) we host a bigger holiday potluck each year around Christmas / New Year’s. Plus, we figured our friends would need a glass of wine or three after Black Friday shopping.

The way the game works is that everybody brings 2 bottles of the same wine to the party. One of the bottles is used for the wine tasting game, while the second bottle gets set to the side. The wines are grouped together by varietal, and then we go through rounds of blind taste testing each varietal. At the end of each round everyone votes for which wine was their favorite. The wine with the most votes wins, and the person who brought the winning wine gets to keep the other bottles of that varietal that were set to the side.

Big thanks to everyone that came out! I think everyone had a great time, and we definitely need to host another one of these in the future. And special thanks to Alex, whose expertise in bartending and blind tastings helped us organize the game in such a way that it was actually successful and fun. Without Alex the game would’ve been a mess lol.

Oh, and check out the charcuterie board Christina put together by herself. This thing was basically a work of art.
