Life is expensive, but that doesn’t mean it has to be boring! It’s a beautiful day to try something new, don’t you agree? Here’s a list of free things to do in Houston!
Check out the list below and click the link for each event’s details.
Discovery Green- Check out the temporary playground by Yuri Suzuki, a Japanese sound artist, designer, and electronic musician. His works will be up until October 1st. Other things to check out at Discovery Green are Flea by Night hosted every third Saturday of the month featuring crafts by local artisans and designers, and Tree House Happy Hour (August 31st) located on the rooftop patio of The Grove.
The Menil collection - The main building houses special exhibitions and the permanent collection. There are four other museum buildings which some people often miss: two are dedicated to single artists (Cy Twombly and Dan Flavin), the Byzantine Fresco Chapel, and the Menil Drawing Institute.
Miller Outdoor Theatre - Grab some snacks and blankets and catch a movie on the lawn at Miller Outdoor Theatre! Click the link to see the schedule.
Japanese Garden in Hermann Park - Designed by Ken Nakajima based off of Zen philosophy. Make your way through the garden to the teahouse and waterfall and enjoy some quite time near the garden stone’s pathway.
Visit the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir - The Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a traditional Hindu temple that is both an architectural wonder and a reflection of Houston's diversity.
