2023 Trip to the Philippines

About this time last month we were in the Philippines visiting my family and celebrating my grandma’s 90th bday. It was great being able to take some time off to spend it with family, especially since this is only the 4th time I’ve gotten to see my relatives that live over there.

My wife lady and I also made it a point to visit El Nido to do some touristy, vacationy type things with just the two of us. I mean, if we’re gonna travel 16-19 hours by plane to the other side of the world, we might as well make the most of it right?

Funny story - So after an island hopping excursion in El Nido, we get off the boat and there’s this beachside bar that catches our eye, and we decide to pop in on a whim. The spot was kind of vibe - more vibey than what you usually see in El Nido - and there was a DJ playing some loungey house music that you already know is my steez. Needless to say, we were really feeling the place.

Anyways, we’re having some drinks and light snacks, and over the course of our stay we start to notice that literally every guest in the place is French. We even see the owner, and he’s French too. Turns out the place is called La Plage (French for “the beach”), and it happened to attract all these French tourists. The irony wasn’t lost on us - our bougie asses traveled all the way to the Philippines only to end up in a vibey French bar smh 🤦🏽‍♂️ lol
