Neighborhood Vibe

The Next “Montrose-ish” or “Heights-ish” Neighborhood

East Downtown (Eado) is a neighborhood bordering Downtown Houston on the east side of US-59. Eado has seen significant growth starting around the 2010s, with several cafes, bars, gyms, and entertainment venues being built in the area. For a number of years Eado was touted as the “next up-and-coming” neighborhood, and in our eyes 2018 was the year Eado finally fully established itself as one of Houston’s modern and desirable in-the-loop neighborhoods.

As you travel further east away from Downtown, Eado transitions into East End. Truthfully, the designated border for what should be classified as Eado vs East End isn’t clearly defined in day-to-day life and conversations. A lot of times something that may technically be in the East End is referred to as being in East Downtown. In our opinion, though, the Eado-East End border is somewhere in between Milby St and Lockwood Dr.

In Eado you’ll find a lot of 3-story townhomes, but as you get deeper into East End you can find a lot of early 1900s bungalows that have yet to be renovated. If you’ve ever wished you could get into a Montrose or Heights bungalow before prices boomed, such an opportunity might be present in East End.
